Sandy Venneman, Ph.D.

USE PSYCHOLGY TO IMPROVE YOUR RIDING! You have read about her in national publications and seen here at seminars across the country, now bring her to YOUR barn.  See Practical Horseman, Jan 2007 & USDF Connection Feb 2006 for samples.

SEMINARS: Performance enhancement workshops unmounted, or combination of unmounted and mounted workshops.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Sandy employs classical learning theory and performance enhancement techniques from psychology, combined with over a quarter century of experience in training, teaching and judging, to help students learn not only the "hows" of riding, but the "whys." This enables her students to work independently to problem solve and improve their horses. In addition to holding a doctorate and masters degree in psychology, she has undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry and a lifetime teaching certificate in secondary education. In addition to teaching riding, she has taught at the high school and college levels. She has won teaching awards at both the university and high school levels. Sandy's combination of practical horsemanship and education lead to success for both the horses and students she has trained. Under her training and riding, her mounts have won national and state awards in diverse areas including dressage, jumpers, combined training, hunters, saddlebred pleasure, driving, western pleasure, the breeding division and all three equitation seats. Her students have gone on to successful careers in the show ring, as professional trainers and greater enjoyment of their horses.

Sandy gives private instruction in the South Texas area and seminars nation wide. Her specialty is helping riders use techniques of sport psychology and basic dressage to improve their horses for all disciplines. Dressage instruction through second level and hunters/jumpers at any level. She often combines judging and seminars to make learning affordable for groups such as Pony Clubs and 4H. LESSONS: Private and semi-private lessons in the Yoakum Texas.
